Breckland Local Plan: Regulation 19 Consultation
Proposed 120 dwellings – land North of Foxley Road, Bawdeswell!
Despite our serious concerns, Breckland District Council, in its latest draft Local Plan, has continued to advocate a 120-house planning target for Bawdeswell, alongside the North side of Foxley Road opposite the school.
This latest and final draft plan continues to be open for public consultation until 23rd September; so, if you have concerns about this plan for Bawdeswell, it is vital that you voice your opinion now: either on the Breckland website – www.breckland.gov.uk, by phone -01362 656870 (ask for the Planning Policy Team), e mail- LocalPlan@breckland.gov.uk or by letter to – Planning Policy Team, Breckland Council, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1EE or by attending the following Breckland public consultation – 9th Sept 4.00-7.30 Breckland Office Dereham
Meanwhile, Bawdeswell Parish Council will continue its fight against the Breckland plans for the village at every opportunity and as best it can; but if it is to stand any chance of succeeding it needs your support!
At the Parish Council Meeting on 3rd September Bawdeswell Parish Council agreed to submit the following drafts –

We might eventually lose the argument with Breckland, but if so, it is essential that we go down fighting against this illogical and poorly considered housing target for our village!

Bawdeswell Parish Council has submitted their views to Breckland and a copy their submission can be read here Residents are encouraged to submit their views to Breckland and details of the consultation can be viewed below;
The public consultation on the Draft Plan ended on Monday 15th December 2025. This stage of the local plan (known as Regulation 18) set out Breckland Council’s draft policies and growth strategy and is an important stage in the plan-making process. It provided an early opportunity for communities, businesses, landowners, developers, partners and stakeholders to ‘have a say’ and comment on the draft Local Plan before it is considered further and then finalised for the next (Regulation 19) stage. Further public consultation will take place at the Regulation 19 Stage.

Breckland have now published the first set of consultee comments, which includes Statutory Consultees alongside some additional consultee comments. To view these please use the link below.
